Before large portions of it disappeared in the year 2000 beneath the rising waters of a new reservoir on the Euphrates River, the ancient city of Zeugma in Turkey yielded one of the richest troves of Roman mosaics ever uncovered. Here, view a gallery of the finest mosaics, many of which were retrieved by archeological teams only at the eleventh hour. In the final slide, take an animated tour of the 14-room villa where many of the finest mosaics were found.
