About the Show

Victor Hugo’s epic masterpiece Les Misérables gets an emotional adaptation by multi award-winning screenwriter Andrew Davies—no singing in this version! Dominic West (The Crown, The Wire) stars as reformed criminal Jean Valjean, with David Oyelowo (Selma) as his obsessive pursuer Inspector Javert, and Lily Collins (Emily in Paris) as luckless single mother Fantine. Love, death, and the struggle for social justice in early 19th-century France feature in this beautifully faithful retelling of one of the world’s greatest novels. “This new version of Les Misérables comes to us in the form of a handsome, sweeping, straightforward series of six episodes,” says Variety.

The distinguished British cast also includes Academy Award®–winning Olivia Colman (The FavouriteBroadchurch) and Adeel Akhtar (The Night Manager) as Madame and Monsieur Thénardier, Emmy Award-winning Josh O’Connor (The Durrells in Corfu, The Crown) and Ellie Bamber (Nocturnal Animals) as young lovers Cosette and Marius, Erin Kellyman (The Green Knight) as Éponine, and Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Indian Summers, Ragdoll) as Pontmercy.
